Davis, representing Empire Athletics, ran a wind-legal 22.55 seconds to capture the girls 15-16 national title, eclipsing the 2004 meet record of 23.06 held by Bianca Knight of Ridgeland MS.

Davis, 15, ran a personal-best 22.48 to win the FHSAA 3A state title May 5 to lower Knight’s freshman class national record and produce the third-fastest all-time effort by a prep female. Davis also added a 22.98 to capture the New Balance Nationals Outdoor title June 17.

With her performance Saturday, Davis now has two of the eight fastest wind-legal 200 times produced by a high school athlete. Only Allyson Felix has more marks under 22.60 as a prep competitor with four.

Davis is scheduled to compete in the 15-16 final in the 100-meter dash Sunday. The last athlete to sweep both 100 and 200 titles in the girls 15-16 division was Lanae-Tava Thomas of Rush-Henrietta NY, representing Maximum Velocity, in 2016.

Zachary LA sophomore Sean Burrell, representing Greater King David Track Club, lowered his own meet record in the boys 15-16 200 final to win in a wind-legal 20.85. Burrell clocked 20.90 in Wednesday’s prelims to break the 2015 record of 20.98 set by Tyrese Cooper of Miami Norland FL.

Hopkins MN junior Joseph Fahnbulleh, competing for Park Flyers Track and Field Club, secured the men’s 17-18 national title in the 200 in a wind-legal 20.69.

Buford GA junior Alexa Rossum, who won the girls 15-16 national title in the 200 last year, added a 17-18 championship Saturday by clocking 23.65.

Rossum also teamed with Stockbridge Woodland GA junior Aasiyah Barr along with Greater Atlanta Christian GA graduate Jada Jones and sophomore Jasmine Jones to help ATL Zoom Athletics win the 17-18 crown in the 4x100 relay by clocking 44.85.

Another Georgia-based club, Jackrabbit Track and Field Clinic, set the meet record to secure the 15-16 girls 4x100 championship in 45.14. Buford sophomore Kimberly Harris, Clarke Central freshman Lashanti Williams and incoming freshmen Efemena Egberi and Tamiia Fuller eclipsed the 2006 record of 45.45 set by the California-based Quiet Fire Track Club.

CL Athletics Stars Track Club from Texas won the men’s 17-18 title in the 4x100 with a 40.38 effort, just off their season-best 40.06. Mansfield Legacy graduate Jais Smith, Humble graduate Jordan Booker, Katy Seven Lakes graduate Chris Williams Jr. and Houston Cypress Fair graduate Eddie Sumler contributed to the championship for CL Athletics Stars.

Following a javelin silver medal July 14 at the IAAF World U-20 Championships, Parkview Baptist LA graduate Tzuriel Pedigo won the men’s 17-18 crown with a sixth-round throw of 227-5 (69.32m).

After winning the 15-16 girls triple jump championship Thursday with a lifetime-best 41-9.75 (12.74m) in the sixth round, Panther Creek NC sophomore Morgan Smalls, representing Carolina All-Stars Track and Field Club, added a high jump title Saturday with a second-attempt clearance at 5-8.75 (1.75m).

Pinecrest NC freshman Carmen Alder, representing Franklin Elite Athletics Track Club, ran 10:06.93 to win the 3,000 meters in the girls 15-16 division.

Holy Innocents GA junior Jackie Addy captured the women’s 3,000 in the 17-18 division in 10:20.34.

Grauer School CA sophomore Christopher White, representing Team Edge Club, won the boys 15-16 javelin title with a fourth-round throw of 175-5 (53.48m).

Wando SC sophomore Dillon McCarthy, competing for Mt. Pleasant Track Club, was one of three athletes to clear 14-7.25 (4.45m) in the boys 15-16 pole vault final, but he secured the title based on fewer attempts at earlier heights.
